Boy Scouts of America
For over 75 years Bethany Lutheran Church has been home to three different Boy Scouts of America Scout Units, where we are servicing the Triboro and surrounding areas.
Our Cub Scout Pack 9 is a program for the entire family. Boys and girls, ages Kindergarten through 5th grade, have fun learning with hands-on activities and adventures. The activities include but are not limited to hiking, nature, science, citizenship, first aid, sports, and etc. These adventures help to prepare the youth of today for life. Pack 9 is celebrating its 68th Anniversary this year.
Boy Scout Troop 9 is a traditional program scouting experience for boys in the fifth grade through high school. Service, community engagement, and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as the youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout. We are thrilled that Troop 9 is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year.
Venturing Crew 9 is a program for the older youth. Our Co-ed (boys and girls) program is for youth who are 13 and graduated the 8th grade (or 14) up to age 21. The youth choose the activities which matter to them the most. They create their own opportunities to develop skills like leadership, event-planning, organization, responsibility, etc. all while having fun with other youth. The adult leaders are only there to support the program the youth choose. This year, Crew 9 is celebrating its 71st Anniversary.
Over 70 young men have earned the rank of Eagle Scout from our Troop and Crew. Most recently in 2021 Chris K. earned his Eagle Scout Rank from the Crew and in 2022 Owen W. earned his Eagle Scout Rank from the Troop. Both the Troop and the Crew currently have several young men working toward their rank of Eagle Scout.
Each November, our Scout Troop joins in a nationwide Thanksgiving Food Drive, volunteering their time to distribute a shopping bag and letter to many homes in the Palmyra & Cinnaminson area, then retrieving the filled bags a week later. All food donations go to the Bread of Life Food Pantry at Epworth Methodist Church.
Volunteers are always welcomed to drive, help distribute, and/or retrieve the bags! Last year, over 15,000 food items were collected and shelved for use. Stay tuned for this year's dates!
